Well here we are and the 3rd week of January is about over already. Time is flying! It looks like we are going to have a 3 day weekend, because on Monday, two big events take place. The swearing in of the president on his second term and Martin Luther King's birthday.
You would think that since I live here in the city where all the action is going to take place that I would be right there in the crowd witnessing it all. Well, you are wrong if you think that. Little ole me does not like the idea of being mixed up in a crowd of people. And I am thinking it is going to be freezing cold. It is going to be so crowded that I know if I were down there, it would be hard to see over shoulders and heads. So, what am I going to do....I will be sitting right here at home, watching it all unfold from the comfort of my home and not standing out there in the cold all bundled up. Well yes, I will still be excited, for regardless if I am standing out in the cold, or sitting on my couch, it will still be a great day. Besides, I won't have to be in traffic trying to get back home when it is all over. I will still be able to see just as much from my TV as those who are going to be on Pennsylvania Avenue as spectators. Don't get me wrong, if the President and the First Lady were taking that walk down my street behind their motorcade; oh for sure, I would be standing outside on my porch, but keep in mind, my front door would be just steps away if it got to be too cold. I hate being cold! I am just not a winter-time person. I might think different if this event was being held in the spring or summer; but then again, I would still have the problem of dealing with crowds. So, I would have to "Think about it....hard before I made my way downtown." Go on, call me a party-pooper if you want to. I won't be mad at you, but.....are you going? If so, tell us your experience, curious minds would like to know.
As they reported on the news, all kinds of festivities will be taking place this week-end....they will be partying hearty up here/down here/over here in DC, most of the activities taking place in Northwest. Well, I can put my music on right here and dance/sing my little heart out in the celebration as well. After all, I do have an awesome playlist, a music list so long that I could be "dancing in the street" all day long and up into the evening hours. (haha, the street being my livingroom, it is big enough.)
Hummm, I wonder what Michelle will be wearing at the ball and what song they will dance to. I have a big poster of the couple dancing at the first inaugural ball and that white dress she wore was just stunning. But, she is a stunning woman anyway, regardless of what she wears. Hummm, just thinking, what will I be wearing when I watch this all unfold? Will I be in jeans and sweatshirt/sweater, or will I still have my jammies on? Guess I will have to wait and see how the mood hits me. They will be sipping on champagne most likely, but me......I will probably have my handy little coffee cup or my tall glass of Pepsi on ice. But you know what.....I will be feeling just as good as the Commander and Chief and First Lady! Oh, and I will be smiling too. So, God Bless the first Family and may God Bless us all to make it through these next four years; stop bumping heads and work together to make this thing right, not for a few.....but for us all.
Well, that is my little political commentary for tonight. As you can see, I am not much on politics, which means I am not very political, which also means I keep my political views to myself, because views and opinions bring about too many arguments and Little ole me is all about love, peace and harmony.....can you feel me?
Good night ya'll!
