A lot of work goes into creating a book by way of self-publishing. But, as the writer/author of the book project, you are in charge of the entire kit and kaboodle from beginning to end. I mean you take the bull by the horns and tackle everything associated with publishing; this means addressing and working out errors in your book set up. Because, if this is your first attempt at self-publishing, you will have to learn in a hurry how to fix errors with your interior files such as page bleeding, page numbering and inappropriate margins and graphic issues associated with the cover of the book. You may even find that you have errors to correct that deal with the simple thing of fonts not being right for the project. Everything can look great on your final manuscript draft, but when you upload it into a PDF file, everything can go haywire. There are so many things that can go wrong when you are doing it yourself. Whoever said that self-publishing was fast and easy must have been out in the sun for too long. It has been my experience that self-publishing is not a piece of cake. You have to know what you are doing and be willing to learn as you go, sometimes doing steps over and over again a million times until you have a perfect and professional book that is ready for public viewing, because a lot of detailed work has to go into masterpiece and you can't skip over none of it. This is what I am going through right now with Create Space. Waiting for my files to come back and keeping my fingers crossed that they are perfect and ready for the next step. The issue I am having with this particular book project is the page numbering....I don't know how many PDF files I have saved to my computer for this one project that I keep having to revise or correct. However, since I've come this far with the project, I am not about to trash it or call it quits, oh no! I am going to keep pressing on until everything is right and I see the final product. I've done it before, so I can do it again; I'm bringing one book at a time to people who love to read, young and old. And this time, I'm doing it my way through self-publishing and Create Space. I'm educating myself with the hands on experience with the publishing world....one day maybe I will be an expert at it.
