I enjoy being on the tablet, but I also enjoy being on my PC being productive and creative. I love having a real keyboard to let my fingers walk across and they move so swiftly across the keys. I type with both hands, which means I get more work done. Can you imagine typing out a 100 page manuscript using one finger as you put a story or a book idea together? This does not sound good to me. As a matter of fact, it sounds downright scary. What will I do? What will us freelance writers and authors do? The PC to me is so convenient and necessary, and now they are talking about them being obsolete in the near future. I think it would be hard to get some work done using an electronic gadget that is only 10 inches wide or smaller. Dag, and I haven't even had my flat screen monitor that long. I use that with my PC and it is nice, easy to see when you are working. All I can say is Woe is ME. This is not fair! And it is definitely not right!
Once upon a time, I was one of those who didn't want anything to do with a PC. Just give me a typewriter, and I'd be fine. But all that changed. I have become addicted to the PC and I think I would have withdrawal symptoms if and when it does become a "thing of the past." As I see it, the tablets, Ipods, Ipads are great tools, tools to play with, for that's what I do with them. However, when I want to get serious and when I want and need to get busy I turn to the PC because it lets me accomplish all the writing work that I need to do and still I can have fun with it. So I ask....is it really necessary to upgrade on something that is already working well and meets all the needs of the person who is using it? Why tamper with perfection?
I just thought of something else too.....all these people going to school for electronic gadgets....how will that effect their major. For instance, my son is thinking about going to school for computer programming and the works. Good grief, if this becomes obsolete, what's the use of trying to get a degree in this program? What's the point? So much I do not understand. Sometimes, I just wish people, would leave stuff well enough alone. Now I just wonder how all of this will turn out. Will I be trying to create a story on my tablet? Will I have to get a bigger tablet? Will I have to do the one finger typing as I work on a manuscript or a freelance article? Oh, I forgot....you can do the speak and type thingy on tablets and such. That's not on my PC. Heck, I don't even use that on the Tablet. I like letting my fingers get some exercise.
