You might be thinking I've already been on break since I haven't written anything for a while. However, I've been busy....but not with writing. I think I took a little vacation with that as I regroup my writing enthusiasm. I haven't left it, just letting the thrill of writing build itself back up again. I am still dabbling in the freelancing world though, I do that in between my gardening.
We are finally having the perfect weather to become a little gardener of sorts. I really don't have a green thumb, but I am working hard on getting one or two. I am so excited because earlier this week, I went to the nursery and bought two Boomerang Lilac bushes and Two Azalea Bushes and I planted them. I have always loved the smell of Lilacs. What I bought are suppose to grow to at least 5 feet in height and width. Right now, they are just mini bushes that I am nurturing so I can't wait for them to really mature. You should see me, I go out and talk to them everyday, it's like I am babysitting as I keep my eye on them. I noticed the Azalea bushes, one of them, its leaves has started to turn brown...I hope I didn't do anything wrong and it snaps back. I told it this morning to stop changing colors and dropping its leaves because it is not time to do that. It might be a little mixed up since I put it in the ground. LOL
I was so excited to get my yard in shape, in my mind I can see how I want the yard to look, I hope it comes out as I imagine. I even ordered some plants from an online nursery, two weeks ago. I had big plans for those perennials, but you know what, they never arrived. I received the confirmation email that the order was received, but as of today, they have not been shipped. What the crap, do they have to grow what I want first? Anyway, I got fed up and cancelled the order this morning. That was two orders that I cancelled from the same place, a nursery up in Michigan. All I can say is there goes that one yard image I had in my head. Oh well, I will just take my few dollars and go to a brick and mortar nursery and buy some more, after all, I still have the front and side of my yard to work on and complete. Trust me when I say, yard work is murder too. After planting those four bushes and getting the spot ready, I couldn't move for two days. Talk about a gardener being out of shape. It wore me out, but I loved it. So glad I didn't see any yucky creepy crawlers. Oh, my lilacs when they mature and come in bloom are purple and my Azalea bushes are red. How do you like those colors? I have something tall growing up out front that I planted last year....I can't remember what they are. You can rest assure they aren't sun flowers. The sun flowers that my daughter planted liked to drove me nuts, which is another story for another time.
The Strawberry Festival is going on in my hometown of Troy, Ohio right. Wish I was there. I am always missing out on the fun things, just like missing my brother's annual Memorial Day cookout....oh the perks of living so far away....it sucks! So, I guess I try to make up for it with my gardening because scented flowers makes me feel good, just like the month of June with it's sun-shining weather.
Well, time to go, hubby wants something to eat and I have a date with the washing machine. Always something to do.
Hey, when I see some growth of my bushes, and perhaps some blooms....I will take some pictures and share it with you. So keep your fingers crossed for my little garden in the making.
