Knowing that is the reason why I am writing in my blog today. Two special events were honored yesterday, some may look at it with detesting eyes, but others look at it with a humbled and hopeful heart.
Now I am not much on politics and political mumbo jumbo, because to me politics do nothing but divide and causes arguments and head bashing. Politics is mean, depressing and quite frankly......it's confusing, downright mind boggling! It reminds me of football teams, basketball teams and boxing matches...those trying to get the fought after trophy and the status when the season is over. May the best team survive and take home the prize. Play hard and beat the pants off the opponents. Oh well, I am not going to go any deeper than that with this. But I think you see my point and I refuse to go there, after all, this blogger is about peace, love and harmony.
Yesterday, I sat in front of my TV and enjoyed watching the swearing in of the president on his second term. I was smiling from ear to ear. I didn't look at it from a political view, I looked at it from a human view and using my female eye. I enjoyed seeing a family united and standing together, supporting one another and the images to me were absolutely the best. A lot of confidence was shone when "the man of the hour" took his vows and gave his speeches. A lot of people will agree that he was on track and on time, but then again a lot of people will disagree. But, we are not going to go there. This is not the place to scratch eyes out because of opinions and viewpoints. Right before the president went to his luncheon, when he stopped to take one last look at the massive crowd supporting him, he looked like a very humbled and an appreciative man. He looked thankful. And I have to say, he looked blessed to be where he was standing. He knows the burden he carries as he leads this country. But, enough of that, for we all know his journey will not be an easy one. But, if God is on his side at that very moment, He will also be by his side for the next four years and thereafter too. I believe that!
Back to yesterday....another event that I enjoyed watching was the walk and wave during the parade. That's what I call it. The Obamas' didn't create this, this part of the parade has been going on forever and I always enjoyed seeing it. It tickled me to see the Vice President out and about scurrying around shaking hands and then running to get back to where he was suppose to be. To me, it just showed that he was involved with the people, even on that cold day.
Now, I am going to wind this down. The events taking place all weekend in DC showed the anticipation of the public for January 21st. No, I did not participate. My problem is I can't go for massive crowds and bitter cold. If I were a president's wife, or even the president and this is not one of my dreams...I'd have to have this celebration in the spring or summer. I'd change the date of the whole inauguration and it would not be held in January, regardless of tradition. Besides, I'd get nervous with all eyes on me. My knees would be trembling when I made my entrance in a stunning dress to meet my president/husband on the dance floor. I'd be smiling, but I'd probably be beet red and hands sweating. That would make me nervous. Nah, I couldn't be the one to put on an entertaining show for you. I couldn't even sit behind a piano and play and sing like Alicia Keys or Stevie Wonder did. I'd have to be in the background, out of site to maintain my composure. See, I am just a simple person, down to earth. I get pleasure in seeing others in that position and enjoying it. However, it doesn't necessarily have to be me. This is one thing I do not pray for. I really enjoyed seeing the first lady in her stunning red ball gown. It was gorgeous, and no, I do not think about how much was spent on it. I am not even thinking about the cost of this entire shabang. But someone out there will rip apart that segment of the event. Just like today, the event of yesterday will be analyzed, criticized, and the speeches torn apart as people nit pick and disagree on what was said. Me personally, I'm not going to give my time to any of that. Burst my bubble, you will not!
Now I did not intend to write a book in this blog. I just wanted to give my thoughts on yesterday as we prepare for today and tomorrow. So with that. I think I've said it all. It's a new day and a new beginning. May God bless our president and his family. May this next four years bring America together and let us unite like we do on Facebook. Hummm, did I just say that???????
